2025 Dodge Charger Powertrain Options

The 2025 Dodge Charger comes with two powertrain options. First is the Charger Daytona with its all-electric powertrain. Underneath its sleek, muscular exterior, the 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona's powertrain is engineered for electrifying performance and relentless versatility. At its core lies a state-of-the-art 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, meticulously designed for rapid charging and delivering an estimated 300 miles of range under standard driving conditions. Advanced thermal management systems ensure the battery performs optimally in both scorching heat and freezing cold, safeguarding peak efficiency on every drive. Complementing this high-capacity energy source is a dual electric motor setup, with one found on each axle. Next is the Dodge Charger SIXPACK, which uses the all-new Hurricane engine; a 3.0L twin-turbocharged straight-six cylinder engine. Pioneering as the first-ever all-wheel-drive muscle car, both Charger models employ an intelligent AWD system that dynamically distributes power between the front and rear axles. This ensures superior traction, stability, and control—whether you're carving through rain-soaked city streets or conquering challenging winter roads. Together, these groundbreaking elements redefine what it means to drive with power, precision, and unparalleled confidence.

What Drive Modes Help the Charger's All-Weather Capability?

The all-new Charger uses a range of drive modes to maximize its driving capabilities. If you're driving in inclement weather, the Wet/Snow mode comes standard on all models. When driving in harsh conditions, Wet/Snow mode provides the most traction. This is done by coordinating the regenerative braking, torque split, electronic stability control, and traction control systems. It will also monitor and control the throttle to prevent wheelspin while accellerating. Looking to have a little fun in the snow or even on the blacktop? Drift/Donut mode is in place to automatically switch the drivetrain into rear-wheel drive. It also turns off the electronic stability control feature and allows for various amounts of intervention from the traction control system.

How Does the Dodge Charger Limit Tire Slip?

The 2025 Dodge Charger also comes standard with a mechanical limited slip rear differential. This helps maximize your traction in snowy or icy conditions by applying torque supplied by the rear electric drive module to the wheel that has the most traction. This is done by utilizing a clutch pack system found inside the differential housing, which senses wheel slip. When wheel slip is detected, more torque is transferred to the wheel that has better traction. This allows the vehicle to regain traction on slippery surfaces and limit tire slip. This replaces a traditional open differential, which simply allows a wheel to continue to slip by continuously delivering equal power to both rear wheels.
