About Hambden OH
Hambden Township, or simply Hambden, is one of sixteen townships located within Gaeuga County. It's located about 35 miles northeast of Cleveland, about 14 miles inland from Lake Erie's shores. In 1801, Dr. Solomon Bond bought the land and began Hamden's town center, attracting other settlers who formed family farms in the surrounding 25 square miles of the township. Dairy farming inspired the construction of a cheese factory along Route 608. The great forests of maple trees also drove up the maple business for the county and state. While today there's a greater division of housing and suburbs, the township still preserves and is very proud of its homey rural charm.
