For tax years beginning in 2026, the IRS Section 179 maximum deduction is $2,560,000, subject to eligibility and applicable limitations. The deduction begins to phase out when the total cost of qualifying Section 179 property placed in service during the tax year exceeds $4,090,000.

Timing matters. Qualifying property generally must be placed in service during the applicable tax year. If your commercial truck needs a body, equipment or a custom upfit, waiting until the last days of December can make that harder.
